GENERAL INFORMATION AND CONDITIONS

BOOKINGS: When booking please include full name, number of people, Licence number, Expiry date, D.O.B. and home address. Pick up time and location (flight no. and actual arrival time)Please advise of any delays as we will endeavour to drop the vehicle to Nelson Airport as close to your arrival time as we can so that you can head straight off to your destination and not have to wait for any shuttles . We will need the hire agreement E signature form completed. You will need to pay the airport exit fee at the barrier arm - current pricing as of 12/10/23 for stays under 1 hour long are $4.60 and rise every hour there after so let us know if you are delayed or miss your flight as the costs will rise the longer the vehicle is there. If you are coming into our depot to pick up the vehicle please advise us of this or put in “Depot” on the Flight arrival part of the booking form. Drop off location is our depot at 31 Bolt rd unless otherwise organized with us. We will drop you down to the airport. You will receive booking confirmation by email.

RENTAL VEHICLES

DAILY HIRE CHARGES: The daily car hire charge includes GST ( local tax @ 15% ),the compulsory insurance payment with bond / excess NZ$2500. Free kilometer allowances are included. Daily rates are calculated on a 24 hour day .

ONE WAY HIRES: One way hires are possible. One way fees depend on circumstances and length of hire. a one way fee will be charged

BRANCHES Nelson with drop off options in Christchurch and Picton. (Must be authorized by us prior)

DRIVERS: A valid full driving license (state, national or international) is required. Minimum age: 19 years and a minimum of two years driving experience is required .  There is no special license requirement to drive the vans. Only those individuals named on the rental agreement are authorized to drive the vehicle.

INSURANCE: Standard insurance is a full insurance but excludes the first NZ$ 2500.00 of any accident. Credit card details are required, if the client does not have a credit card, then a refundable payment of

NZ$ 2,500.00 via eftpos or cash is required. We do have options to lower this excess to $500 for $10 per day or for zero excess $18 per day ( minimum of 4 days / $72 for zero excess)

FUEL:  The vehicle will be full of fuel on pick up and it is to be returned full. A $20 refuel fee applies if not returned full plus the fuel cost.

Please return the car in good clean condition, $50 cleaning fee applies if car is returned dirty. NO smoking in all the vehicles please.

ON ROAD HELP AND VEHICLE REPAIRS: Hardycars vehicles are maintained and serviced to the highest standard, however this does not prevent the occasional mechanical malfunction. In the event of mechanical problems we recommend you ring AA Roadside Assistance on toll-free 0800 500 222, assistance will be provided through AA-approved service agents throughout New Zealand. Please call us first on 0800 90 30 10.

We must be informed if repairs costing in excess of $20 are required before any work is commenced. We will approve repairs provided the Hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted or the cost can not be refunded. No responsibility for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown will be accepted. Our liability extends only to refund of hire charges for any days of total loss of vehicles usage caused by a mechanical breakdown but not by an accident

Malfunctions of radio-cassettes, cabin lights, air-conditioning are not considered mechanical breakdowns and downtime will not be paid.

PAYMENT: Deposit (advised individually) is required to secure your booking , remaining balance payable at pickup . Bookings will not be confirmed until the deposit is received.
We accept Visa, Mastercard and bank transfers.

CANCELLATIONS: No extra fees will be charged for cancellations over 7 days to the start of the hire, 25% hire cost is charged if cancelled within 7 days, 50% of hire cost less than 24hours, No shows will be charged 100% of hire costs.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance at the time of booking your international flights to New Zealand. Your local travel agent will help you with further advice & information on what type of cover you will need during your travel.

FERRY: We strongly recommend to book the ferry in advance due to high demand - we can do this for you. Please advise of every persons name as well as preferred date/time of crossing when booking.
